Info:
Feb. 21st. is TGMs first solo 12" after his successful album You Decide, several compilation and remix assists (with among others Santorin, Spinning Wheel and the Phoneheads) as well as after Infinity 2.0, which actually was only the second maxi this house ever released! Whereas Infinity 2.0 was a 3-track-freestyle-piece as a whole, TGMs new 3-track basically is drum & bass along the different stages of a dj-night.
TGM & Cytechs track Feb 21st has been on the turntables of both national and international drum & bass djs for the last couple of months. It is a kind of rave-wave-sound of the future of drum & bass. In fact it make it to be the soundtrack of hi tech movie attacks like The Matrix. The title of the track was chosen after the date of birth of both its creators. As TGM, being an A&R with Basswerk, received a demo from Cytech from Hamm (Germany), he didnt only like what he heard, but was also surprised to see that he and his esteemed colleague were born on the same day. They both met and discovered more similarities between the two of them. That is when they started with the beats and basses for the track that TGM gave a thorough finishing touch.
With Nu wheels and Keep it simple TGM reminds us that drum & bass not following the dogma of the dancefloor, still is able to be successful just there. Nu Wheels and Keep it simple are optimally minimal with tight beats and beautiful typical TGM-like chords for the first and the last hours of a drum & bass night. Without the usual jazz or soul dilutions, these compositions go for a self confident melodic component that is extremely danceable and normally only can be heard in eclectic minimal sets. TGM concentrates on deepness out of his own chemical box. It might be pioneering for his next album.
Another co-operation with Cytech, an initiative of the latter this time, is Collision, that just like Feb 21st will be released on the double cd Basswerk Sessions 2, appearing at the end of August of this year. On this and the upcoming Basswerk vinyl releases, four new TGM drum & bass tracks also can be heard, before his new album on Combination will come out, in spring next year.
